Jenna and Ben met in 2020 when Jenna was a resident saving lives on COVID wards, and Ben was with his parents saving snacks for his next Netflix binge. Jenna was looking for a special man to come home to after a long day of treating patients, and Ben was looking for the remote hidden in his parents' couch. When it came to romance, Ben was staying off the dating apps during the pandemic - he didn't want to risk catching COVID from anyone. Meantime, Jenna was surrounded by COVID and no one wanted to be anywhere near her. They were perfect for each other.
Eight months into his isolation with his family, Ben decided he needed to find a way to spend time with women who weren't his lovely mom or grandma. He decided to download one specific dating app: JSwipe - that's right, Jewish Swipe aka Jewish Tinder. In case you've never heard of it, it's a dating app where Jewish people meet each other in hopes of preserving our species.
Ben and Jenna's species preservation went from messages, to texts, to extreme sleep deprivation as they FaceTimed and chatted on the phone for hours everyday. With Ben at home with his parents and Jenna bathing in COVID, it wasn't so easy to meet. But if you know Jenna, then you know she doesn't back down from a challenge. She was going to meet Ben regardless of how many quarantines, COVID tests, vaccinations, or hazmat suits it took.
They had a first date in Gramercy Park in true pandemic form - 6 feet apart, masks on. To top it off, Ben's mom dropped him off to the date (true story). The fact that Jenna and Ben could only see about 10% of each other's faces didn't deter them. Keeping with their normal routine, they still got home and FaceTimed for hours right after the date.
Their relationship blossomed as Ben finally decided his regression to high school must end, and moved out on his own to a studio apartment. Jenna moved in six months later, insidiously, saying she wanted to stay over because it was "closer to work." Why would Jenna choose to live with Ben in a small New York studio? The world may never know - but miraculously, their relationship survived.
As Jenna moved into the final years of her medical training and Ben continued to sell his soul to the corporate life - they traveled to multiple countries, spent time with each others' friends and families, argued over the last frozen Butter Chicken from Trader Joes - all the things healthy couples do.
In March 2023, Ben and Jenna signed their first lease together for a one bedroom in the exotic destination of Murray Hill, and all the pieces of a life with each other began to come together. Shortly after, Ben got down on one knee and put something shiny on Jenna's finger. They kissed, rainbows appeared, doves flew and a deep, rich voice from above beckoned them towards marital life.
Ben and Jenna cannot wait to share this day with you, and are so excited to break (and drink) a glass by your side.
